Pumpkin season can be year 'round as far as I'm concerned!
It is pumpkin season at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market. Everywhere you turn, you will be met with this seasonal favorite. Look for Lady Bug Gourmet and her homemade pumpkin butter, and apple cider and caramel jams. If you buy the caramel flavor, she will give you a free recipe for her amazing pumpkin bread, which is what she is sampling her jams on this week.
Great Harvest Bread Company will be bringing pumpkin bread and pumpkin muffins, and two of the handmade soaps from Hairy Farmpit Girls are available in pumpkin spice and pumpkin chai. Riverwood Candles makes soy candles with environment friendly wicks and their fall scents include pumpkin patch, apple cinnamon, Mandarin cranberry, and their most popular fall scent has been sweet potato pie. Free smells are available.
Gluten free products from Something Good has pumpkin flavors, too, including sweet bread, pumpkin squares, and gluten free pumpkin pie. Simply Savory has dry dip mixes in pumpkin cheesecake and caramel apple. Both of these make a nice spread for apple slices, or a dip for pretzel sticks which are great party additions. Square A Farm, our new dairy vendor, is bringing a seasonal spiced pumpkin coffee creamer, and Gana Pecans will have pumpkin spiced pecans.
Looking for sweet pie pumpkins? Check out King’s Kountry Produce. Every year, I make a dozen or so full-sized, traditional pies – from scratch – using heirloom recipes, to share with family and friends. I do this to keep the memory of those who have passed close to our hearts during the holidays.
Other traditional flavors you’ll find this Saturday in the farmers market include Topsy Toffee. This is handmade by Tucker in three flavors: milk chocolate, white chocolate and semi sweet chocolate. We also have a brand new cupcake vendor, Sweet Peach Cupcakes.
This week’s Booth With a Cause is the Nassau Humane Society, and music will be provided by saxophonist Gabriel Arnold. The Arts Market will return on November 9th, then save the date for November 16th – this year we have partnered with United Memorial Methodist Church to throw a free Fall Festival for the community. #LoveShowsUp
