Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise held their annual Club Assembly on January 6th, 2012
Amelia Island, FL – The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise held their annual Club Assembly on January 6th, 2012 at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club. Rotary International directs clubs to conduct this meeting quarterly to update the club members on club business. Each board member and committee head gave oral reports on their progress.
President, Katey Breen, led the meeting and reported fundraising results of over $14,000 for the past six months. The following charities received donations from the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise: Barnabas, Baptist Medical Center Nassau, Blessings in a Backpack, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Nassau County Boys and Girls Club, Cambodia Water Project, Council on Aging, Fernandina Beach Rotary Club, Haiti Water Project, Hope House, Mercy Ships, Micah’s Place, Mumbai Hospital, Oceans of Fun Reading Camp, Rollin’ For Joplin, Shelter Box, and St. Vincent’s Mobile Medical Van.
Over twenty Rotary members from the Sunrise Club will join other District Rotarians on February 13th to celebrate 100 years of Rotary in Florida! Rotarians from District 6970, which includes 63 clubs, will attend this event. Estimated attendance will be over 1,000 members and guests.
International President Kaylan Banerjee, from India, will be speaking at this special luncheon and dedicating the St. Vincent’s Mobile Medical Van which was purchased for the hospital with support from District clubs. It will serve the needs of those who are without funds for healthcare or access to proper facilities.
