The 2017 Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival begins on Thursday, May 4th, with the popular Pirate Parade that starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.
Located in historic, downtown Fernandina Beach, Florida, the 54th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival will be held May 5th, 6th, and 7th, with an exciting Pirate Parade kicking-off the festival at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017.
The Shrimp Festival features a four day multi-genre festival including A Fine Arts and Crafts Show, A Music Festival, A Food Festival, An Antique Festival, and A Family Festival all rolled into one exciting weekend!
There is something for everyone including over 350 award winning, juried, and talented artists who specialize in jewelry, glass, paintings, photography, sculptures of clay, metal, wood and fiber, apparel, and more.
Known for non-stop, free concerts with national, regional, and locally known acts, you’ll find yourself dancing in the streets from Opening Ceremonies on Friday afternoon until the festival closes Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. with the Party Band of the South, The Swingin’ Medallions.
Fernandina Beach is the “Birthplace of the Modern Shrimping Industry” and dozens of Nassau County non-profit organizations will be serving up delicious dishes for you to enjoy including bar-b-q, hot dogs, burgers, seafood, and of course the honoree of the weekend: local, wild caught shrimp. You’ll find shrimp pizza, gumbo, grilled shrimp, shrimp salad, fried shrimp and more.
We are a family-friendly event and have selected vendor booths, entertainment and attractions that are specifically designed for kids. Our recently expanded Kids Fun Zone is a dedicated area that offers games, rides, activities, displays, food booths, and a Mother’s Tent with comfortable changing and feeding areas.

Booths along the waterfront will begin to open at 4:00 p.m, and the Kids Fun Zone located at Central Park on Atlantic Avenue will open at 6:00 p.m. Opening Ceremonies are held at the Riverfront Stage at 6:30 p.m. and then the Festival takes on a life of its own with fabulous food booths, giveaways, live music, the Miss Shrimp Festival Pageant, Invasion of the Pirates, and a tremendous fireworks show at 9:30
On Saturday, May 6th, the festival expands to include hundreds of arts and crafts vendors, antiques and collectibles exhibitors, and more delightful food booths. There will be contests, live music, and of course, scores of pirates, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The festivities continue Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by honoring our shrimp boat fleet with an emotional Wreath Ceremony, a Best Decorated Shrimp Boat Parade, and the Blessing of the Fleet. Enjoy the arts, crafts, antiques, collectibles, Kids Fun Zone, the amazing food, and free concerts all day.
