There has always been a presence of small scooters in and around town on Amelia Island. Many of these were younger adults who are still in high school or those just getting started in life and need an inexpensive way of travel. With gas prices at an all time high scooters are becoming more attractive to all age and social groups as an alternative to gas hungry full size automobiles. But true to Amelia Island fashion the scooter is not being viewed as money saving lesser means of transportation. Everyone is finding out quickly that the scooter is the most fun to “scoot” around Amelia Island. Predominately the island has a maximum speed limit of 35MPH making even the lower HP scooters ideal for our area. Parking in the down town district can sometimes make one weary looking for a suitable parking space but not with a scooter you literally can park just about anywhere and still be very legal. Another huge advantage to this type of mobility is the wonderful weather we have here in N.E. Florida. Even the winter temperatures are mild enough to allow one to ride year round. A scooter is inexpensive to own, require no mandatory insurance, operate at 50+ MPG, are quick and easy to operate and best of all there fun to ride. These are the little additions I love about the little slice of paradise I call home, Amelia Island.
