Second Annual Women of Power 5KIt is time to register now for the Second Annual Women of Power 5K being held November 10th! All proceeds from this event will benefit Cedar Haven, a project of Women of Power.

This event is for runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels. Strollers are allowed, as well as well-behaved leashed dogs.

Cedar Haven is a local transitional home for women facing homelessness in Fernandina Beach. Cedar Haven was founded in March 2011 by LaVerne Mitchell and Valerie Baker as a project of Women of Power. Laverne Mitchell, was selected by the Florida Times-Union as one of “Ten Who Care” for her work on Cedar Haven.

This transitional house provides housing, clothing, life and job skills training, employment assistance, professional counseling services, and many other programs that work together to holistically assist homeless women in their transition to a maintainable, stable lifestyle.

Registration is only $20.00 and is available online at and will be open through November 3rd. Day-of-event registration will be available for $25.00.

Registration is also available at The Bridge Family Worship Center on HWY 17 in Yulee, AND at Current Running on 8th Street in Fernandina Beach.

CLUB 14 FITNESS will lead a warm-up starting at 8:15am.

Cedar Haven gets NO MONEY from the government, it is 100% privately funded.
