Contestants of the Forever Fit Challenge and Club 14 Fitness trainers arranged an outing to Publix to show the students what they should buy while learning to eat the Crossfit way, which is similar to Paleo.
Contestants of the Forever Fit Challenge, by Club 14 Fitness went on a field trip to the Publix Grocery Store in Fernandina Beach earlier this week. Personal trainers from the fitness club arranged this outing to show the students what they should buy while learning to eat the Crossfit way, which is similar to Paleo.
Caveman back to basics
The Palio way of eating is often called the Caveman Diet because this style of eating is based on the way nature has designed the human body to survive. Avoiding sugars, grains, wheats (gluten), preservatives, hormones and other additives is important to the Palio lifestyle.
The field trip made it easier on the students to learn to shop because it is easier to see what you should or should not eat, as opposed to being told.
In this field trip the healthier choices were explained, labels were read and defined and alternative options were given. Even permission to have an occasional Fritos Scoop as a sinful treat was granted… watch the video to learn why.
Many of you know I lived in South Dakota for awhile when I was a kid and I was very excited to learn from the video that our local Publix Grocery Store sells ground buffalo. This is a great alternative when you are looking for a lean, grass fed protein selection.
Spicy Buffalo Meatballs
Ingredients:
1 lb ground buffalo meat (Available at Publix)
1/4 Cup diced spicy red or green pepper
1/4 Cup diced onion
2 Cloves of diced garlic
2 Free range eggs
1/4 flour (Gluten free, of course)
Dash of Tabasco or other hot sauce
Pepper to taste
Directions:
Combine ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
Shape meat mixture into balls.
NOTE – To keep shape of meatballs, plunge momentarily into rapidly boiling water before cooking.
Place meatballs into skillet with a splash of olive oil and cook till all sides are brown and a little crispy.
Place meatballs on baking sheet and cover with foil.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes, turn and bake another 15 minutes.
Let meatballs stand for ten minutes before serving.

Healthier foods ARE more expensive, no wonder obesity is an epidemic in America!!! I think I will expand the size of my garden this spring.
It's all about economics privateeye. If healthfood was in demand by a lot more people, the prices would ultimately come down. For now you pay a premium for being healthy
I wonder if that is really true that healthier foods are more expensive. I can name health foods in abundance that are cheaper then a burger at Mc.Donalds. I believe that the cost of foods is not what stops us from eating healthier but the quality time we wish to dedicate in preparing it. It is my utmost believe that many American Households have a great, exquisite kitchen yet hardly ever it is used to do what it is supposed to do. I think personally that most “modern” households could do without a kitchen and all amenities to cook an just have a fridge and a microwave.
I believe a recent survey showed that 90% of the third generation fast food grown-ups in the US do not know how to cook. Let me see if I can find the video. Got it
The thruth of American Food.
Healthier foods are not more expensive, super luxury kitchens that gather dust are!
