Snickerdoodles is one of my favorite cookies. Baking with my mom at the holidays is a tradition for our family and this year one of our cookies is the Snickerdoodle! My mother has a red and white checkered Better Homes and Gardens cook book that was given to her from my grandmother. The spine is worn out, its pages have faded with time, and it has a few stains, but it also has some of the best recipes in the world.

Mix in a medium bowl:
3 Cups all purpose flour
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/2 Teaspoon of salt

Mix in a large bowl:
1 Cup butter (or margarine)
2 Cups sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup of milk
1 Teaspoon of vanilla

Mix in a small bowl:
3 Tablespoons of sugar
1 Teaspoon ground cinnamon

Grease a cookie sheet and pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F.

In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt.

In large bowl, beat softened butter for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add eggs, milk, vanilla, and beat well.
Add dry ingredients and beat until well combined.
Form dough into one inch balls, and then roll in the sugar and cinnamon coating the balls.
Place the balls two inches apart on the cookie sheet and flatten slightly with the bottom of a drinking glass.
Bake about 8 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

If you want to make your home smell like the holidays, this is a great cookie to bake. Close your eyes and breath in… can you smell the spicy cinnamon and warm vanilla?
