After a long hard winter, it seems that spring has finally sprung in Northeast Florida! The trees are budding, the flowers are blooming, and spring is in the air!

Spring Has Sprung in Northeast Florida
I paid some much needed attention to my plants and trees and put down new mulch in the flower beds. It is good to see that some of the plants survived the cold. The garden was tilled and planted with tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, and watermelons. A separate area was prepared for our blueberry bushes. Seeds for herbs and other vegetables were put in pots to sprout.
My brother and I have been doing a lot of reading about composting and he built a compost box so that we can try our hand at that. It will be good for our garden, the environment and much less waste going into my septic system via the garbage disposal. I purchased a compost jar for the kitchen and I am excited about our new efforts.

I am always happy to shop for pretty flowers to make the yard bright and cheery and we installed flower boxes on the front porch railing. I made some hanging baskets of pink and purple petunias too!
Finally, I purchased a new grill. It is a necessary accessory for the summer days ahead and the people at our new Ace Hardware were happy to help me choose the right one for me.
I hope this giddy feeling of “spring fever” continues and helps me with the “spring cleaning” that needs to be done inside the house too. Be sure to take advantage of the longer days and rid yourself of the winter blues. Spring has officially sprung!
