Like all critters, they perform a function in the order we came to believe to be order. No matter what, it's still their habitat and if these critters are responsible for the natural reforestation in some sort of way, then they are allowed in my opinion to be a nuisance to us “Intruders”.

No Tommylee, my house is MY habitat! I'm not climbing up any trees and intruding into the nests of unsuspecting squirrels stealing their nuts! Lighten up, the article shows that a “holiday” can be made of just about anything!

I'm all for humor but to suggest that squirrels make for a great snack just because like anything in this life, they can be a nuisance, kind of makes me want to put you on the shortlist for “Fear Factor” and see how you would do with worms and cockroaches as snacks.

I never said eat them because they are a nuisance, just stating the fact that they are edible. Squirrel was sometimes the only thing on our winter dinner table when I was a kid and though they don't have alot of meat on them, they are not as greasy as rabbit.

OK. I agree that having a squirrel Holiday is kind of out of whack, but I still stick to my point that you had to clear trees from the lot that where once the homes of the squirrels. We are actually much worse. We killed 94% of their homes in the past 70 or so years!!!
