ShrimpElation Celebration wrapped up the Shrimp Expression fund raiser for Micah's Place with a successful live auction.
The ShrimpElation Celebration wrapped up the Shrimp Expression fund raiser for Micah’s Place with a successful dinner and live auction on Amelia Island, Florida.First Federal Bank, Burbank Nets and Amelia Liquors sponsored a lovely evening with cocktails, dinner, dancing to music by Harry and Sally, and lots and lots of shrimp at the old Pogey Plant. The Burbank family transformed the old warehouse into an elegant evening with large nets, balloons, confetti and the eight remaining shrimp from the art project Shrimp Expression.
Potential bidders were handed fans to wave in this festive setting of Fernandina’s ecletic movers and shakers.
Auctioneer, Aaron Bean welcomed nearly 200 attendees who forked over $125.00 per ticket to support Micah’s Place, Nassau County’s only certified domestic abuse center. Bean auctioned the eight remaining shrimp on the Isle of Eight Flags… coincidence? Perhaps! He went on to describe each of the available shrimp and opened the auction with a minimum $500 bid for Cool, Coastal, Captivating Cutie.
Other popular shrimp included Liberty, a red, white and blue shrimp that went for $700.00, Mongoose, and Francis the Gator. Rock Shrimp, who was sporting sunglasses, punk hair and a guitar fetched a $1,500.00 bid to thunderous applause from the crowd.
This fund raiser has been a three year project and Micah’s Place Executive Director, Shandra Riffey, said she was “thrilled” with the celebration.
