Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise installs new board of directors with skydiving club presidents
Amelia Island, FL – The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise held their installation of officers on Friday, June 29th at the Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport. To kick off the beginning of a new Rotary fiscal year, the outgoing and incoming club presidents initiated the ceremony by jumping out of an airplane and skydiving in front of the cheering Rotarian crowd. Guided by owner/operator Darren Lewis of Skydive Amelia Island and tandem instructor, Clint Leighton, the two Rotary leaders glided gracefully to a gentle touchdown, after which outgoing president, Katey Breen, passed the symbolic presidential gavel to the new club president, Christal Fish.
The installation was hosted by Past District Governor, Tommy Grimes. Incoming District Governor, John Brunner attended, as well as Rotary District 6970 Foundation Chairman, Bill Griffin.
The incoming board for Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise includes: Christal Fish, president; Mark Cutshaw, president-elect; David Dully, Vice President; Katey Breen, past president; Diane Jordan, secretary; Suzanne McLeod, sergeant at arms; Barbi Coyne, treasurer; Sharon Stanley, foundation; and Josh Bietenholz, member-at-large.
During the past 12 months, the Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise held numerous fundraising events, donating $30,000 to charitable causes, including Polio eradication, The Boys and Girls Club, In Search of Me Café, Hope House, Micah’s Place and others. Rotarians Stan and Deb Cottle were also recognized during the officer installation ceremony for their contribution to the Rotary Foundation via charitable bequest, earning them membership in Rotary’s Bequest Society.The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise meets every Friday at 7:30 am, at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club.
