The 2010 Winter Olympics

Vancouver BC is home to the Winter Olympics that will take place on February 12 through the 28th, and promises to bring us a fascinating two weeks of world class sports. Looking at the schedule of events there is so much going on, even on the day of opening ceremonies, the first ever held indoors, there will be ski jumping qualification rounds. The second day dives right into ski jumping, Alpine skiing, ice hockey, biathlon, freestyle skating and the oh-so-fun to watch, luge.

When the First Winter Olympics took place in Chamonix, France, in 1924, only 16 countries participated with a total of 258 athletes. 247 were men and 11 were women. This year an estimate 80 countries will send nearly 5,000 official and athletes who are there competing to bring home gold, silver or bronze medals to their country.

NBC will bring the televised events into your living room and sometimes it is hard to keep up with when your favorite event will be covered. Maybe this guide of events will help you decide when to watch.
