Triathlon Series and Fernandina Traffic

The Triathlon Series returns to Amelia Island. This is a great sporting event for locals and visitors alike, but for some of our locals the traffic tends to interfere with their Saturday morning errands that normally consists of running out for juice or checking out some yard sales.

The Jacksonville Sprint Series (Mini Triathlon) will be held on Saturday, June 19th, 2010 at Main Beach park in Fernandina Beach, Florida at 7:00 am (Registration opens at 6:00 AM). Main Beach is located at the intersecton of Atlantic and Fletcher Avenues on Amelia Island.

This race is limited to 400 Athletes, and the first wave begins at 7:30 AM with a 9:30 AM awards ceremony scheduled.

The course includes a 1/4 mile swim in the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean (beach start) with a fresh water shower into transition #1. Swim caps are provided in your race packet and are REQUIRED during the swim.

Next you will bike a ten mile course. This is a flat, fast, out and back course along the coastline of scenic Amelia Island on Northeast Florida’s beautiful Atlantic coast.

Then finish with a three mile run with water stations set up at the mile markers. This course is out and back through the N. Fletcher section of this lovely island community.
