30 Honeymoons to choose from

We recently posted an article about local travel planner Angela Pierson Wallace having been selected as one of 30 Honeymoon Specialists  in the Virtuoso Luxury Travel Providers Network to plan and submit a truly unique Honeymoon experience.
The idea behind this effort was initiated and arranged in partnership with the world’s Number 1 Online Wedding Planner Resource The Knot. To ensure couples are aware of these opportunities, Virtuoso looked to TheKnot.com to create an email and website promotion campaign that will be viewed by millions of brides-to-be.

Each month more than three million unique visitors consult The Knot, the top wedding network website, for advice  in planning their wedding and subsequently a honeymoon. Eight out of 10 US brides planning a wedding are active on The Knot. Besides a noticeable trend in upscaling the honeymoon part of the Wedding Experience, there is a growing number of couples interested in exploring their honeymoon beyond the traditional seaside stay. Now engaged couples will have their choice of Virtuoso-designed honeymoon packages around the globe to meet their needs and interests.

The packages were created by some of the network’s most experienced honeymoon specialists in conjunction with longtime Preferred Suppliers.

The honeymoons range from a three-day getaway at a Mexican beach resort for $1,930 per couple to a two-week African safari for $23,834 per couple (Amelia Island’s Angela Wallace introduced this one). Featured destinations range from nearby destinations in Florida, the Caribbean and Central America to faraway jewels in the South Pacific, Asia, the Mediterranean, Africa and New Zealand. Accommodations include overwater bungalows, luxurious safari tents, grand suites and floating palaces. Personally I have never been aware that Disney World had a World Resort platinum package available that would surpass $5,200 per person but with the Magic all around it sounds like something that could be a lot of surprise fun.

“Virtuoso’s slogan is ‘We Orchestrate Dreams‘, and no travel dream is more important than someone’s honeymoon,” said Virtuoso President Kristi Jones. “With all the stress surrounding a wedding, it’s nice to step into a marriage with a perfectly tailored honeymoon that will set the tone for exploring the world together as a couple. Virtuoso honeymoon specialists take this job seriously, so the couple can have the time of their lives. And…we bring a wedding gift as well as each Virtuoso honeymoon includes something special like extra free nights, guaranteed upgrades, limousine transfers, full-day shore excursions, shipboard credits, spa treatments or bar privileges with our compliments.”

Virtuoso’s Top Honeymoons fit a wide span of budgets and personal interests. As life and society has changed focus over the years and couples often spend substantial time exploring compatibility prior to tying the knot, the focus of honeymoons have expanded beyond the Honeymoon Suite in a luxury Beach Resort.

There is a growing number of those looking for adventure who can now choose from exploring ancient temples, rafting through white-water rapids, touring by helicopter, paragliding, horseback riding, or snorkeling with sharks and rays.

Those seeking romance and magic may choose a private candlelit dinner on a beach, their own private pool, an overnight sailing on a luxurious junk, or even the magic of Disney. If pampering is key, almost all of the honeymoons include the ultimate in luxury, from couples massages and limousine transfers to breakfasts delivered by canoe and extraordinary accommodations with breathtaking views. And for those wanting to be on the move, a selection of luxury cruises and multiple-destination offers are perfect for those with wanderlust and a curious mind.

Even though The Knot Market Intelligence 2009 Honeymoon Study reports that romantic surroundings, sun, sand & surf, and a casual, relaxing environment are still the top three qualities brides look for when choosing a honeymoon, honeymoons are more of a couple decision these days which need to include and reflect both parties’ interests. Yet another aspect is that honeymoons are often a groom’s surprise to the bride, an old habit that has not died.
What better surprise than telling your bride after a leisurely spent wedding night, that the first adventure you go on as a couple is a trekking safari in South Africa. I’m game.
