Women of the Port recognizes the contributions made by women in the maritime industry and it is opening at the Amelia Island Museum.
There is a new exhibit opening at the Amelia Island Museum of History this week in Fernandina Beach.
Women of the Port is a collection of photographs, recognizing the contributions made by women in the maritime industry. Put together by the Jacksonville Port Authority, the exhibit celebrates the women striving to break barriers and achieve success while working at Jacksonville’s seaport.
The photos will display the wide array of jobs held by women and show how diversity helps to make the Port of Jacksonville a dynamic workplace.
The exhibit opening will be held on Friday, October 5th, at 6 pm.
To open the event, Meredith Fordham Hughes (JAXPORT Manager, Creative Design) will lead a panel that will discuss the tremendous influence that women have had on the operation of the Jacksonville port.
This program will be open to the public, with a suggested donation of $5 for members, and $10 for non-members.
