JACKSONVILLE, FL – Desire Street Ministries is hosting its second annual Desire Cup Kick-Off Dinner on Thursday, October 25th in the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

The reception begins at 6:30 p.m., followed immediately by dinner at 7 p.m. Proceeds from the dinner and live auction will support the rebuilding of Desire Street Ministries in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Dinner guests include University of Florida Gators football players Chris Doering and Danny Wuerffel, and University of Georgia Bulldog football players Herschel Walker, Kevin Butler and Lindsay Scott. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the illusionist Ken Hartley, Jr.

Live auction items include, and are not limited to, a signed cleat from New Orleans Saints quarterback and SuperBowl XLIV MVP Drew Brees, two tickets to the Navy-Marine Corps Classic between Florida and Georgetown on Nov. 9, 2012 and a Florida Keys fishing trip with Danny Wuerffel and Rich Tutor.

“The dinner is a great way to kick off the big Florida-Georgia rivalry weekend while supporting a great cause,” said Danny Wuerffel, Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback and executive director of Desire Street Ministries. “The weekend allows the fans, alumni and former rivals of both schools to join forces and raise funds for an organization that is committed to serving and rebuilding the ninth ward of New Orleans and other pockets of poverty in the south.”

The kick-off dinner event coincides with the sold-out second annual Desire Cup Golf Tournament at TPC Sawgrass Players Stadium Course, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. The Desire Cup is a way for fans of Georgia and Florida to connect and compete on the golf course during the weekend of the storied Georgia-vs.-Florida rivalry football game.
