Nassau Humane Society Gala raised over $35K in event donations and sponsorships, and also received a $15K donation to begin a new animal care fund, WAGS.
The inaugural Nassau Humane Society Gala, held April 18th, 2015 at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island was a huge success. A semi-formal cocktail hour welcomed over 200 attendees on the Talbot ballroom terrace and lobby area. During this time, attendees were encouraged to bid on Silent Auction items ranging from custom artwork to luxury hotel stays at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta, Georgia.
Following the cocktail reception, guests were invited into the Talbot ballroom for dinner. The evening’s program featured Guest Speaker Nikos Westmoreland. He is a talented emcee as well as the chief marketing officer for PRI Productions, and a guest host who is often seen on television’s First Coast Living.

After heart-felt messages by Westmoreland, NHS Executive Director Tom Christenson, and NHS Board President Beth Hughes, guests were invited to dance to vibrant big band and jazz music performed by Crescendo Amelia. The celebration ended around 10:30pm.
In total, the event raised $50,000 in funds to help the homeless animals of Nassau County.
The Nassau Humane Society is already planning to host the 2nd Annual Gala in spring of 2016.
