19th Annual Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival begins January 24, 2020
Press release: One of the nation’s most renowned classical music festival, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is once again bringing some of the world’s best musical artists to headline its 19th annual season (Jan. 24 – April 26, 2020). Opening with a Jan. 24 performance by Anne-Sophie Mutter, universally considered one of the greatest violinists of modern times, the season also features bluegrass legend Rick Skaggs, violin superstar Itzhak Perlman and many others.
“The Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival is one of the island’s most anticipated cultural treasures, consistently attracting performers from the stages of New York and London to our enchanting island,” said Gil Langley, President of the Amelia Island Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This gives our visitors a rare chance to add a one-of-a-kind musical memory to their stay on Amelia Island, alongside world-class accommodations, pristine beaches and unique outdoor experiences.”
The 2020 festival includes 10 concerts featuring guest artists of national and international acclaim, in programs of traditional classical music, light classics, and music reflecting America’s roots. Under the direction of Christopher Rex, festival founder and artistic and general director, the festival is a rich and varied celebration of world-renowned artists performing a variety of music styles in intimate and historic settings on Amelia Island.
The Amelia Island Chamber Festival provides access to first-rate classical chamber music to diverse audiences in northeast Florida’s Nassau County (including Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach); educates audiences about the works performed and has distinguished visiting artists mentor aspiring young musicians; and helps strengthen the local economy by attracting new festival patrons from nearby Florida counties, southeast Georgia, and beyond.
