Burger King

Who loses their Burger King? Fernandina Beach, that’s who. And we have lost our Burger King twice! Burger King closed down once before when patrons took, “Have it your way” a little too seriously. Back in the 1990’s, Burger King mysteriously closed for several years. The rumors I heard floating around was that a 5-year restriction to operate was put in place when employees were allegedly caught selling marijuana through the drive-thru window. Who knows what happened this time?

Remember the 1986 Burger King slogan, “Where’s Herb?”

T-Ray’s Burger Station

Close to downtown, T-Ray’s is a Southern country breakfast and lunch served from a converted gas station. A local favorite that is being kept quiet without too much success. Delicious burgers and daily specials, their breakfast biscuits are amazing.

Grilled to mouth-watering perfection, topped with Portobello mushrooms, Swiss cheese or any number of other toppings, the burgers are the reason T-Ray’s is packed six days a week. Burger and Seafood lunch. No dinner. T-Ray’s was named one of USA Today’s 51 Best Burger Joints in the U.S. several years ago. Weekly lunch specials.

Small with only a handful of tables where you will find locals starting their day. High paced kitchen and loud. Cash only and sometimes the air is on, sometimes not. Oh, and yes – it looks like an old, closed gas station.
