The 22nd Annual Blue Crab Festival will be held on Memorial Day Weekend in Palatka, Florida.
Starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 29th, there is a Seafood Cookoff. There will be chowders, and gumbos and lots more to taste! The blue crab is found in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. While blue crabs are from Maryland, two coastal towns Little River, SC, and Palatka, FL hold Blue Crab Festivals every May.

Blue Crab Cakes
3 Cups blue crab meat
1 medium potato, boiled and mashed
1/2 Cup cooked onion
1 Cup bread crumbs, unseasoned
3 large eggs
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1/2 Cup sweet vermouth
1/4 pound butter
Place crab meat, mashed potato, onion and 1/2 cup of the bread crumbs in bowl.
Add 2 of the large eggs to mix and blend to make crab cakes.
Dust with garlic powder.
Beat remaining egg in bowl and pour 1/2 cup bread crumbs into another bowl.
Dip crab cakes in egg and roll in bread crumbs.
Cook for 3 minutes in a frying pan, then pour vermouth and brown each side.
