Island Council

Hola! Cuban Cafe, 117 Centre Street, Fernandina Beach

Grow your business by making and strengthening your connections with Amelia Island-based businesses at the AIFBY Chamber Island Council.

The council this month will meet at Hola! Cuban Cafe, located on North Second Street in downtown Fernandina Beach, behind the Palace Saloon. Our hosts are treating us to coffee, and we’ll be doing a networking exercise led by Butch Beard.

Admission is free for Chamber members; $25 for non-members. Newcomers are always welcome! Optional breakfast is available.

Yulee Area Council
8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10

Justin Taylor of the Nassau County Property Appraiser’s Office will discuss Leadership Nassau, the Chamber’s community leadership development program, at the next meeting of the Yulee Area Council.

Connect with local business owners and professionals, generate referrals and discuss issues of interest to the Yulee business community at the Yulee Area Council, hosted by Whataburger located in The Shoppes at Amelia Concourse.

Admission is free for Chamber members; $25 for non-members. Newcomers are always welcome! Optional breakfast available.

Government Affairs Committee

The AIFBY Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee works to increase awareness of regulatory and legislative issues affecting the local business community.

The committee meets at 8:30 a.m. the third Wednesday of the month at the Chamber to discuss issues and to recommend formal policy stances for adoption by the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The AIFBY Chamber is located in the Gateway to Amelia complex at A1A/Eighth Street and the Amelia Island Parkway. You’ll find our office behind the flag poles.

Business After Hours
5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 19
Baptist Medical Center Nassau, 1250 S. 18th St., Fernandina Beach

Connect with up to 150 Chamber members at Business After Hours, Nassau County’s biggest monthly business event, sponsored in June by Baptist Medical Center Nassau.

Business After Hours is a great way to meet other local business people and make contacts that will help generate referrals for your business. Be sure to bring plenty of business cards! There is always great food, drinks and door prizes. Business casual attire.

Health Care Council

Join us at the Health Care Council in June hosted by Precision Chiropractic, located in the Amelia Crossing commercial area on 14th Street, just north of Walmart.

Keep up-to-date on health-care services available in Nassau County and connect with health-related professionals at the Health Care Council.

Catherine-Byerly-amelia-chamberJune Membership Luncheon
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 24
Fernandina Beach Golf Club, 2800 Bill Melton Dr., Fernandina Beach

Catherine Byerly, digital producer at the Jacksonville Business Journal, will discuss “Women at Work on the First Coast: Where We Are, Where We Are Going and How Exactly We’re Getting There” at the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce’s June Membership Luncheon. The luncheon is sponsored by Advance Rehabilitation and VITAS Innovative Hospice Care.

Byerly will take a look at the wage gap in the seven-county Northeast Florida area and how it compares to the nation and region, using stories from the reporting trail and real people’s accounts of where they see the wage gap coming from. She’ll also discuss how area business leaders are moving equality forward, not only to the benefit of their employees but their businesses as well.

Byerly is the digital producer for the Jacksonville Business Journal, North Florida’s source for business news. Responsible for multimedia reporting, Byerly presents business news in alternative story formats in print and online. Before the JBJ, her reporting aired on WJCT, Jacksonville’s NPR station.

Admission is $20 for Chamber members; $25 for non-members through Friday, June 20, $5 additional afterwards.

The Fernandina Beach Golf Club is located between Amelia Island Parkway and South Fletcher Avenue in Fernandina Beach. From the Amelia Island Parkway, take Via Del Rey Road; from South Fletcher Avenue, take Bill Melton Road.
