ADULTS
Always a Bridesmaid by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, will be directed by Linda McClane. Auditions for this play will be held on Sunday, August 17th at 4:00 pm on the main stage. Six women are needed. Performance dates are October 9 – 25th.
The play takes place in a sitting room of a Virginia home that has been converted to a special events venue that is used for weddings. The play spans seven years. Four of the women were high school friends who vowed 30 years ago to always be in each other’s weddings – and they have kept that vow, no matter the circumstances or how ugly the bridesmaid’s dresses were.
Kari, late 20s – daughter of Libby Ruth. Wearing a wedding dress and getting tipsy, she has a monologue at the beginning of each scene. Initially, Kari will not have to be at all rehearsals.
Sedalia, 60s – a force to be reckoned with; owner of the wedding venue
Libby Ruth, Monette, Charlie, and Deedra, late 40s. They are the four high school friends.
-Libby Ruth: romantic and sweet, plain-spoken and guileless country woman, happily married
-Monette: multiple marriages, flashy and kinda trashy, a Southern flirt
-Charlie: Birkenstock-wearing, tree-hugging free spirit. Never married.
-Deedra: a judge with a dry wit, a no-nonsense Northern transplant. Marriage in trouble.
