We previewed the cars setting up for the Concours d'Elegance at the Ritz Carlton, and I can assure you it will be one amazing display of automobiles.
Parking is available surrounding the event, but we found a couple of available parking lots on Scott Road who will be charging $25.00 and $30.00 to park within walking distance of the event. We hope you bought your tickets in advance because if you’ve waited to buy your tickets to the Amelia Island Concours on the day of the show, March 14, they will cost you $50.00 at the gate.
We were able to hear part of the RM Auction that was presented on Saturday and see the cars as the were driven onto and off of the auction block. Many of these beauties have a reserve, which means they won’t necessarily sell when presented for auction. We witnessed a blue convertible, Cobra Shelby with white racing stripes, and Mr. Carroll Shelby himself vouched for the value of the car – but its owner turned down the higgest bid called which was for 1.275 million dollars! Yep – they turned down that kind of money for a car!
I don’t want to sound prejudiced, and I enjoy a fine car as much as the next person, but honestly, I have a message for all of our local and single ladies. “This is the weekend for you to get dressed up and go out! The ratio of eligible men in town for this event puts the odds in your favor!”
This is a must see event!!!
