Amelia Musical Playhouse is thrilled to present HAIR, the love-rock musical on January 8,9,10,15,16,17 at 7:30pm. The production is directed by Megan Milburn with musical direction by Ron Luallen and choreography by Sarah Sandall.
Hair opened on Broadway in 1968 setting new boundaries for Broadway musicals as it celebrates youth and takes the audience on a cheerful, energetic but poignant journey through the tumultuous 60’s including be-ins, love-ins and protests.
The themes and struggles in HAIR remain vital and relevant to the times we live in today. The performance features a group of teenagers searching for truth, peace and love in the confusion of the Vietnam War era. Among them are Claude and Berger, a pair of friends, battling against Claude’s draft notice, and Sheila, who is in love with both of them, and their hippy friends who support them in their journey. HAIR features an eclectic score including classics like Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In, Hair, and Easy To Be Hard.
