No doubt there are some great buys to be had, if you’re willing to get up at one in the morning and stand in a long line for a store to open at crazy early hours like four a.m.¬† Then of course you must endure the “mad rush” and risk possible injury.¬† I can’t help but think of the crazy town Pamplona in Spain that has the running of the bulls every year. My question is always, why?¬† Why would anyone want to do that?¬† Not only is it dangerous but I really see no reason for it.¬† Oh well, I guess that’s me and the way I see the world.
So back to our “running of the bulls”, or Black Friday as it is labeled.¬† Many people start out with a list of gifts they need to purchase.¬† These lists usually start out well.¬† What you’re going to buy and for whom, how much you’re going to spend and not to exceed a certain amount.¬† I think this is the way to do it, make that list and stick to it, right.
Now back to reality.  This list usually goes the same route as the new year resolution to lose weight and exercise more. It quickly ends up on the back burner and finally forgotten about.  Most people, after they arrive at the store, start finding other items for people who were not on the original list.  This leads to over spending and really regretting it after the holidays.
Is there another solution to avoid falling into this financial trap?  Yup, there is.  How about making that list, identify who you are going to buy for, and list what you are going to buy? Next you will want to dress in your finest jammies, power up that computer and visit your favorite store.  The items will be delivered right to your front door.  Many online retailers offer no shipping cost if you order early.
This type of shopping is what the future is going to be like for all of us and very soon.¬† You will be just getting a jump on the future.¬† It will refrain you from getting caught up in the “feeding frenzy” and thus over spend.¬† Be smart. Make this shopping year one to proud of, you made your budget and stuck to it.¬† Happy shopping to one and all.
