Small businessman and former Nassau County Commissioner Barry Holloway filed today to run for the Florida House of Representatives in District 11.
Tallahassee, FL – Small businessman and former Nassau County Commissioner Barry Holloway filed today to run for the Florida House of Representatives in District 11. Holloway who has started and run three successful small businesses and served eight years on the Nassau County Commission is the first candidate from Nassau County to file.
“As someone who has served at the county level and twice as Chairman of the Nassau County Commission, I know that Tallahassee is no place for on the job training. I bring the right mix of business and elected leadership experience to hit the ground running”, Holloway said. “I was born and raised in Northeast Florida, attended local schools and have spent most of my life in this district, building a business, raising my family and working hard to make our community better. I have a lifelong commitment to making our region a better place to work, live and raise a family and will take that commitment with me to Tallahassee.”
Holloway served on the Nassau County Commission between 2006 and 2014 serving as Chair twice. In his two terms he served on the following roles; President Elect of the Florida Association of Counties, Chairman of the Board of the Florida Association of Counties Trust, Commissioner of the Commission for Law Enforcement Accreditation, Board of Directors, Small County Coalition, Executive Committee, Florida Association of Counties Trust, Vice Chairman, Northeast Florida Workforce Consortium, Vice Chairman, Nassau County Economic Development Board, Ex-officio, National Association of Counties, Steering Committee for Rural and Agricultural Affairs, member Northeast Florida Regional Council.
Holloway is a native Floridian and lives in Bryceville with his wife Candy. The Holloways have two children and one grandchild.
