Buy Safe Toys this Holiday Season

If you plan to buy toys for the kids in your life, choose age-appropriate toys and look for labels with safety advice.

Buy Safe Toys this Holiday SeasonIn recent years, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has created a toy safety system, by requiring testing by independent, third party testing laboratories around the world. By imposing some of the most stringent toy standards in the world and stopping dangerous toys at the ports and in the marketplace before they reach children’s hands, these efforts continue to foster the confidence of American families as they prepare to shop for toys this holiday season.

If you plan to buy toys for the kids in your life, choose age-appropriate toys and look for labels with safety advice.

For young children, avoid toys with small parts for children younger than age three, which can cause choking.

Always purchase safety gear in addition to sports-related gifts or ride-on toys, such as bicycles or skateboards. These toys go fast, and falls could be deadly. Helmets and safety gear should be worn properly at all times and they should be sized to fit.

To report a dangerous product or a product-related injury go online to www.SaferProducts.gov or call CPSC’s Hotline at (800) 638-2772.
