Buying a Coat in Florida

It is hard to buy a coat in Florida. I was told coats are shipped to stores in other places because coats do not sell well here.

Buying a Coat in Florida

Living in Florida, we don’t often get a chance to break out the wool and leather outerwear, let alone mittens and scarves! After yesterday’s bitter cold weather, I decided that I needed to find a new coat. I stood outside in the lunch line for the new lunch bus and the wind whipped right through my clothes and chilled me to the bone. My jackets all come to my waist and my observations in the line were that most people had on long wool coats perfect to wear over office appropriate clothing.

With this thought in mind, I stopped at the mall to look for a coat. I thought it would be relatively easy to find a coat, but after about six stores I realized it was not. One store told me that the coats are all shipped to stores in other places because in Florida they do not sell well. There were light jackets, hoodies, and ponchos, but no long coats.

I finally hit the jackpot in Old Navy. They had long wool coats, anorak, and other jackets, scarves, and hats. Better yet, the coats were all on sale from 30-60% off. I left pleased with my purchases and knowing that I was well prepared for the arctic blast that is blowing across our normally sunny Amelia Island this week.

Bundle up this week and keep in mind that it won’t be long until we are back in our flip flops and shorts!
