Divas Day Out Helps Amelia Island NonprofitLadies of every age (and any men brave enough to tag along) are invited to Divas’ Day Out, a day of pampering and fun for a good cause in Fernandina Beach’s Atlantic Rec Center Auditorium Saturday, June 9, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $3.00 per person, kids six and under are admitted FREE.

This a benefit for the Amelia Island nonprofit Girl Power 2 Cure. Help cure Rett Syndrome and have some fun. Channel your girl power with entertainment and information for women and girls with 30 vendor booths, demos on stage throughout the day and lots of raffles and freebies.

Lots for kids, too, including a visit from Jazoo, Child Safety IDs and a “Diva Dress Up” booth.

Rett Syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder strikes in young girls and stays with them for life. It is a sad condition, but there is hope! It is the first neurological disorder ever proven to be reversible.

To support Girl Power 2 Cure’s efforts to fund research, build awareness, and support families affected by Rett, this wildly fun day will include live demonstrations and even free food.

Among demos, there will be:
– A Dr. Oz-style “Ask the OBGYN” session with Baptist Obstetrics and Gynecology’s Andrew Halperin
– Fashion shows by Elizabeth Trading Co. and Retail Therapy Consignment
– Women’s self defense by Atlantic Warriors
– Zumba Fitness, Body Pump and Body Flow workouts
– and more!

Vendors will offer merchandise and information in categories like fashion, jewelry, makeup, health, cooking and home goods. There will be a free nail-painting station. There will be massages, a makeup artist and a hair stylist offering up-dos on site. Boston Photography will be shooting “Diva Photos” on site. Home Depot is going to literally build a raised bed garden in the auditorium to showcase its “Do it Herself” program. My Personal Chef will be selling delicious “feel good” meals to eat on site, as well as frozen entrees to take home. And local salons will demonstrate techniques like eyebrow threading and eyelash extensions. You can see a listing of all of our vendors HERE.

There will be valuable items raffled off to benefit Girl Power 2 Cure. There will be offerings for the little ones, too, including a “Diva Dress Up station,” a visit from Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens Mascot Jazoo, and a story booth by the Friends of the Fernandina Beach Branch Library. DJ Dave Thrash will provide music.
