Michael Spicer, a local environmental fine art photographer, is showing some of his large format photographs, fired into metal.
The Opening Reception and Exhibit of Environmental Fine Art Photography featuring Michael Spicer, photographer, will be on Saturday, December 11th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Eileen’s Art and Antiques located at 702 Centre Street in historic Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Michael Spicer, a local environmental fine art photographer, is showing some of his latest large format photographs, fired into metal. Pushing the limits for new ways of presenting his work has been an ongoing challenge for this artist. Having previously used hand-made open frames made from copper, aluminum, and stainless steel, his most recent works use some of the latest technology in printing and presentation. Printed directly on sheets of metal that come in a wide variety of sizes as big as 40 by 60 inches, or larger if desired, the images are then kiln fired for durability and archival preservation. These large photographs can then be hung directly on a wall over a sofa or fireplace at home or in an office or business setting, eliminating the need for traditional glass, mats, and frame.
Michael has always had an artist’s eye for the world around him. This show includes some of his environmental abstract photographs that are sometimes described as paintings although no digital distortions or overlays are introduced into his work.
Meet Michael and see this new work as part of an evening of art and festivities with the Artrageous Art Walk and the Fernandina Beach lighted Christmas parade. More information about Michael’s photography can be found at his web site at www.michaelspicer.net.
This event is free and open to the public.
