Fabric Surface Design WorkshopMouth of Amelia invites you to a Fabric Surface Design Workshop by Diane Hamburg, a mixed media and fiber artist.

WHEN: Monday, May 23, 9:00 AM to Noon.

WHERE: Island Art Association, Education Center, 18 N. Second St., FB

WHAT: This class will demonstrate layering textiles with color, texture and imagery by means of silk screening and stencils. It will be taught by Diane Hamburg, Mixed Media/Fiber Artist, exhibiting member of the Island Art Association. Using a blank silkscreen (ready made and self made), the students will experiment using the blank screen at first, then later will make use of temporary resists, such as paper, wax, plastic stencils.

Supplies provided except for fabric and clothing, exacto knife, paper and cloth scissors.

Optional: apron to wear, gloves, soldering or wood cutting tool (don‘t go buy any until you experiment with mine). Think about purchasing old sheets/tablecloths and clothing at the local thrift stores or raid your linen or clothes closets for sheets or clothes you don’t use or wear anymore. Bring in clothes that have spots! Since you will be using fabric paints, any cloth will work.

WHO: The class is open to anyone who is interested in exploring new techniques and venturing into a different artistic mode! Diane is a born teacher, fun to work with, and a consummate fiber artist in her own right.

COST: $35.00 per student. Pre-payment requested to hold your spot
