Fernandina Beach, FL – The City of Fernandina Beach was recently selected as one of the top 100 fleets in North America for the 2nd year in a row. Fernandina Beach was selected for review and was nominated through a strict evaluation process by the business group “Government Fleet”. With over 38,000 public fleets in North America, a placement in the top 100 is a noteworthy accomplishment. Several factors helped in the placement of the top 100 such as:

• Acquisition and pursuance of alternative fuel vehicles & fuels
• Vehicle surplus program – use of electronic sites to increase surplus revenue
• Fleet reduction – reduce the size of the fleet while improving standardization and uniformity
• Proactive in recycling and “think green” services – providing recycling services to the community.

There is always room for improvement. The City’s goal is to continue to reduce fuel consumption and follow the best fleet management practices.
