Former Mayor of Miami Runs for US Senate
Maurice A. Ferre, is a Democratic candidate for the US Senate for Florida. Ferre is a former six-term mayor of Miami and he has made a career of public service. Born in Puerto Rico, this career politician graduated the University of Miami and has six children and 12 grandchildren.

“Serious problems call for bold solutions” according to the wording on his website and his number one priority is to get people back to work. He wants to lead the battle for reasonable reform, that is humane and secures our borders, to America’s immigration policies. He is against off-shore drilling and would like to see Florida’s infrastructure re-enforced, including high-speed rail.

“The two state solution of Israel-Palestine is essential for peace in the Middle East.” He also states that he is a strong supporter of the Foreign Assistance Operations Bill that would support Israel, a major U.S. strategic interest, which according to his website, “The U.S. in recent years has committed an average of $2.775 billion yearly in strictly military aid to Israel.”

Ferre is calling for reform on plenty of the hot issues such as immigration, saving social security & medicare, and regulations for banking & wallstreet. Florida is 50th in the allocation of the Obama stimulus monies and Ferre wants Florida to receive her fair share.
