Hemingway Lecture at Amelia Museum of HistoryErnest Hemingway Program – Man Vs. Nature – Green Hemingway?

Dr. Bart Welling, UNF English professor, earth-oriented literary critic and an animal studies scholar, will discuss Hemingway’s passionate love of hunting, fishing and bullfighting and how they were crucial aspects both of his writing and his image.

In this presentation Dr. Welling will trace the evolution of Hemingway’s often contradictory ways of thinking about humanity’s place in the biosphere, asking what lessons we might be able to draw from his life and work in an era of mass extinctions, global climate change, and rising ecological awareness.

The program will be held on Thursday, October 4th at 7:00 pm at the Amelia Island Museum of History.

This free program is a One Book, One Community event sponsored by the Friends of the Fernandina Beach Branch Library.

All are welcome to attend.
