Homestead Exemption Receipts Mailed Out
Nassau County, FL – Homestead renewal receipts for the 2014 tax year were mailed out in early January, notifying property owners of their continued exemption.

If you are a property owner that received homestead exemption for 2013, you should receive a postcard receipt no later than January 31st. If a property owner no longer qualifies for a 2014 exemption, they should fill out the card and return it to the office; otherwise the card will act as a receipt of renewal.

“Approximately 19,000 homestead renewal receipts were mailed on January 6th so we anticipate that property owners should receive them soon,” said Public Information Officer Justin Taylor.

Exemptions Supervisor Judy Tiner explains that there have already been a large number of property owners who have applied for 2014 exemptions. Those property owners will not receive a renewal receipt until early next year.

Homestead Exemption is a constitutional guarantee that reduces the taxable value of residential property for qualified permanent residents. Deadline to file for any 2014 exemptions is March 1st.
