We have to tell you about the great shows that are lined up for the next three weekends, put on by the island’s newest entertainment venue, Amelia Musical Playhouse (AMP.)

AMP is the ’round’ building on Island Walkway, between 8th and 14th Streets. While the final touches of renovation and permitting progress, the talented crew (including many you know from Kinderstudios) are putting on special preview performances at the Peck Center Theatre.

The songs you love to sing in the shower, in the car, and in your dreams… our cast of talented performers is bringing them to life. Broadway blockbusters from The Sound of Music, Rent, A Chorus Line, Miss Saigon and more…and pop icons including Aretha Franklin, Simon and Garfunkel, David Bowie, Patsy Cline, Nina Simone and the Blues Brothers all on one stage!

General admission tickets are $15, or $10 for students.

On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to “those good and crazy people,” his married friends, as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life. In the end, he realizes being alone is “alone, not alive.” An honest, witty, sophisticated look at relationships, COMPANY is as contemporary and relevant as ever. It features a brilliant energetic score containing many of Sondheim’s best-known songs (including “Another Hundred People,” “The Ladies Who Lunch” and “Being Alive”). Tickets are $20, $15 students.
