The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America, a motorcycle ride, will be arriving at The Amelia Hotel at the Beach on May 13, 2011.
Mr. Petty is a former NASCAR Sprint Cup driver and the Charity Ride founder. He will lead a field of more than 175 riders from Lake Placid, NY, to Amelia Island, Florida, to raise awareness and funds for several causes, including Victory Junction, a camp for chronically ill children founded by The Petty Family in honor of their late son Adam.
Celebrities scheduled to join for all or part of the trip include ESPN NASCAR analyst Brad Daugherty, former NFL great and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker and NASCAR driver and Bo-Dyn Olympic bobsled founder, Geoff Bodine.
Fans and spectators may see the riders arriving that afternoon as they drive over the Shave Bridge, travel through the historic downtown, to the beach and finally arriving at the hotel.
The public is invited to join Petty and his riders at a two hour cocktail reception held the same day at Amelia Dream Cars, 232 South 8th Street, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Cost is a $50.00 donation, per person. Donation includes cocktails, light snacks, a brief live auction, as well as an opportunity to meet Mr. Petty and other celebrity guests.
100% of the proceeds go to the charity. This event is sponsored by Amelia Island Dream Cars, Amelia Hotel at the Beach and The Crab Trap Restaurant.
Tickets available at The Amelia Hotel at the Beach, The Crab Trap Restaurant and Amelia Island Dream Cars. Call 877.263.5428, (877.AMELIA U), for more information.
