Leadership Nassau 2014AMELIA ISLAND, FL – Applications are now available for next class of Leadership Nassau, the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach-Yulee Chamber of Commerce’s community leadership development program.

One of the Chamber’s signature programs, Leadership Nassau seeks to expand Nassau County’s pool of civic talent by educating and motivating local residents to become effective community leaders who can help Nassau County meet the challenges ahead.

Leadership Nassau is a 10-month educational program where participants get an in-depth understanding of the history, economy, government, environment and culture of Nassau County. Participants engage in activities that connect them with civic, cultural and business leaders and organizations throughout the region.

“Leadership Nassau provided me with an opportunity to learn more about Nassau County and its residents,” said Sabrina Robertson of the Nassau County Manager’s Office. “I grew up here. However, there were so many things I didn’t know about our local economy and so many places I had never had an opportunity to see. Leadership Nassau has also provided me with the opportunity to network, and I have met some really amazing people that I now feel fortunate enough to call friends.”

Participants will attend a two-day opening retreat in August, meet all day once a month from September to May, and participate in key governmental meetings and other events throughout the year.

More than 250 Nassau County residents have participated in Leadership Nassau, with graduates going on to become members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, candidates for local political office and leaders in local civic and business organizations.

The Leadership Nassau program is open to any resident of Nassau County, but recruitment targets individuals with diverse geographical and socio-economic backgrounds and seeks a racial, gender and age mix reflective of the population.

Application deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 1. Cost is $650 for members of the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce, $850 for non-members. Tuition must be paid in full by Friday, August 1.

Interested individuals and companies with questions or needing more information should contact Leadership Nassau Coordinator Lynne Starling at lynne@aifby.com.
