Vacation on Amelia Island for as little as $59.00 per night during the upcoming Locals Weekend Out.
The idea started after my husband and I spent the night at the Hampton Inn Harborfront Hotel. We walked around the historic Fernandina Beach district, had a few cocktails and then strolled safely back to our hotel. The next morning we enjoyed breakfast and talked about how interesting it was to stay at a hotel just a few minutes from our home. As we rode the elevator down from our room upon check-out, a man in the elevator asked us where we were from. “Right here.” We replied in unison. “We live on Amelia Island.” The man laughed and we explained how we had attended a party the evening before and decided to get a room and play tourist for the night.
Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island attracts tourists, no doubt about it… we live in a lovely community. Coming January 21st and 22nd, 2011, local residents are invited to vacation in our lovely oceanfront community for as little as $59.00 per night.Picture yourself strolling the unique shops of the Victorian seaside village, holding your lover’s hand in one palm and an ice cream cone from Fernandina’s Fantastic Fudge in the other. You catch the Amelia Island Trolley back to your chosen hotel such as the Hampton Inn at the Beach or Amelia Hotel at the Beach. You walk barefooted in the sand wearing a light jacket as the weather cools approaching sunset. You return to your room to freshen up for dinner at a number of establishments that are planning special discounts just for you!
The next morning you go for a jog on the beach or catch the trolley to work out at Club 14 Fitness, then walk over to get in a quick tanning session at Amelia Perfect Tan or maybe a massage. If you need to, you can run home and feed the dog, then catch a matinee movie at Cinema 7. It is your vacation; do something you have never done. Charter a fishing boat, play a little Petanque or test your skills with a surf board from Pipeline Surf Shop. Visit Fort Clinch, the Amelia Island Museum of History or go on a ghost tour. More businesses, discounts and specials are being added – but go ahead and make your room reservations now.
