Major Changes for the Amelia Arts Academy

It is sad the Amelia Arts Academy will no longer exist as we know it today, but it will still enrich the lives of Nassau County children.

Major Changes for the Amelia Arts AcademyThe Board of Directors met on March 12, 2012 to begin developing a strategic plan for the Amelia Arts Academy. They decided to continue as they are until the end of the fiscal year, June 30th, 2012.

At that point, effective July 1, 2012, their focus will be directed toward serving a targeted group of children who have little or no access to the arts through the After School Arts Initiatives. They will no longer sponsor individual instruction under the auspices of the Academy.

Private lessons will continue through the end of the fiscal year but as of March 31, 2012 they need to be out of the Peck Center so teachers will be at different sites.

You may still pay for your lessons by sending a check to Amelia Arts Academy, PO Box 222, Fernandina Beach, FL 32035. They will also accept credit card payments until June 30, 2012.

Some of the teachers have made other arrangements and will be collecting their own fees. If you currently attend the Academy, your teacher will advise you as to what you need to do and where you need to be.

This was a hard decision to make but one they felt would be best for the future of the Arts Academy. It is their belief that narrowing their focus will make them better able to provide quality arts education to a larger group of children without major costs for administration and infrastructure.

It is sad that the Academy as we know it today will no longer exist but they have great hopes that they will still be able to make a difference in the lives of Nassau County children.

While they are appreciative of the support given from members of our community, they are sorry that the current economic climate has made this decision imperative.
