Matt Walley will perform "A Concert for a Cause" at Memorial United Methodist Church on August 17th, at 7:00 PM to benefit the Barnabas Center.
Walley is a trombonist originally from Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Matt is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance as a Doctoral Fellow and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Rutgers University. He holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska.
During his tenure at Rutgers University, he has performed as a featured soloist the Brevard Sinfonia, Pace High School Wind Ensemble and numerous times with the Atlantic Brass Band. Currently, he serves as Solo Trombone of the Atlantic Brass Band and principal trombone of both the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra and Rutgers Wind Ensemble.
Mr. Walley has taught as a substitute faculty member at the Julliard School’s Music Advancement Program. He has performed twice with the New York String Orchestra in Carnegie Hall and with the Edison Symphony Orchestra. In addition to performing at the Brevard Music Institute, he has performed in the Rekkenze Brass Festival in Lichtenburg, Germany. He has presented numerous solo recitals in Nebraska, Georgia, Mississippi, Florida and New Jersey.
