Mercedes Celebrates 15 Years at Amelia Concours

Meredes-Benz celebrates 15 years at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance with some exciting events:

• Consumer Test Drives Open to the Public for Exclusive AMG Vehicles at Amelia Ritz-Carlton
• Southern Region Debut of the New 2011 SLS AMG “Gullwing” Super Car and E-Cabriolet
• Racing legends Richard Petty, Sir Stirling Moss and Don Garlits Autograph Session
• Vintage Vehicle Display includes Mercedes-Benz 1952 300 SL Racing Coupe and 1954 300 SL Gullwing

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Amelia Island Concours, Mercedes-Benz is offering exclusive test drives open to the public for Mercedes-Benz AMG and Maybach vehicles:

• 2010 E63 sedan and SL63 AMG convertible equipped with 6.3-liter V8 engine that puts out 518 hp

• Maybach 57 a modern super-luxury car powered by a V-12 bi-turbo engine that accelerates in near-silence from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds

Mercedes-Benz is also displaying the all-new 2011 SLS AMG and 2011 E-Class Cabriolet. The limited SLS AMG features exclusive Gullwing doors and a 563 hp V8 engine. The newest addition to the successful 9th generation E-Class family arrives in the 2011 E-Class Cabriolet, featuring the world-first AIRCAP® function that reduces cabin turbulence and wind draft with the push of a button.

On Thursday, March 11, from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island.

Though this event is open to the public at no additional charge, Saturday and Sunday will require a ticket to the Concourse d’Elegance.

    I guess you need a private test track to these roar these Mercedez babies. Anyone an Autobahn?

    Considering the only speed limit over 45 MPH on Amelia Island is heading off the south end of the Island, Heckscher Drive (a fabulously scenic route) will have to be Amelia's Autobahn! LOL

    Seems to be an awful lot of Mercedes horsepower while being stuck in first gear at 45mph. Anyway it's all about concourse d'elegance and thus elegant driving.
