A fun play in Fernandina to help you stay young at heart.
Join the Vintage Players for this charming comedy – part theatre performance, part staged reading – about how to stay young. The show is Sunday afternoon, January 26th at 3:00 pm.
Under the direction of Jason Woods, the Vintage Players, a Jacksonville-based troupe of seniors who have taken to the stage, will perform “Mr. Belvedere Rings the Bell,” a charming comedy about how to stay young. The setting is a simpler time – a time when people simply took others at their word.
Woods, best known for staging “A Christmas Carol” at Dickens on Centre, has the lead role as Mr. Belvedere, a rather pompous author on a speaking tour who impulsively decides to test the premise of his book at a run-down retirement home by assuming the identity of man in his 70s – at least 30 years older than his actual age. The residents, overseen by a stuffy reverend and his assistant, are smitten with the idea of becoming young again.
Tickets are $20, and may be purchased in advance at the Story and Song bookstore, by calling 601-2118, or online by clicking here https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4500637.
