This wonderful event will show off their new building, the mosaic wall, new gallery space, artist demonstrations and feature art.

WHEN: Friday, May 13th 4:00 PM through Saturday, May 14th until 8:00 PM!
WHERE: Island Art Association, 18 North Second Street, Fernandina Beach.
WHAT: An extravaganza of art experiences to celebrate the opening of the new Art Education Center!

Friday, May 13th at 4:00 PM – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Susan Steger at the Education Center.

4:30 to 9:00 PM – Party with live music by the Fernandina High School Jazz Band and the Dan Voll Band, silent auction of over 30 artworks by IAA artists (proceeds from auction go to IAA’s Building Fund) and lots of yummy food and wine donated by Cafe Karibo, Crab Trap, T-Ray, and the Mustard Seed. The auction will end at 8:00 PM and the party will be over by 9:00 PM!

The party is open to the public at no cost!

Saturday, May 14th: This will be a full day of “Ya Gotta Have ART!”

11 AM to NOON:
Photography demonstration & instructions by Paula Porterfield Izzo
Art Project Experience for Children with Diane Hamburg.
Noon to 1:00 PM:
Popcorn and lemonade in the courtyard (courtesy of Harris Teeter) and tours of the Education Center.
1:00 to 2:00 PM:
Demonstration & instructions on Print Media by Rhonda Bristol
2:15 to 3:00 PM:
Demonstration & instructions on Oil Painting by Karen McFayden
Weaving demonstration & instructions by Lynette Holmes
3:15 to 4:00 PM:
Demonstration & instructions on Scratch Board Painting by Tony Stobbe.
5 PM to 8:00 PM:
Second Saturday Artrageous ArtWalk in the Gallery and the Education Center. Nouveau Art Show “Traveled Roads” will be on exhibit as well as this month’s Featured Artists, the Thursday Painters, in the Gallery.
