Buses run several times during the day between Fernandina Beach and Hilliard, and another route runs between here and Jacksonville.
Nassau County, FL – Nassau Transit began on May 31, providing East-West & North-South trips Monday-Friday for everyone who can pay the $1 fare each way, with connections from here to Jacksonville.
COA Transportation, which has provided door-to-door trips to Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) riders in Nassau County since 1984, now has a partner! Similar to a ‘public fixed route’ (like the JTA bus routes running hourly in Jacksonville), there are buses running several times during the day between Fernandina Beach and Hilliard, and another route between here and Jacksonville.
COA Transportation’s existing TD service will continue and run in conjunction with the new “NT” Service. COA TD service is door-to-door service for pre-registered/prequalified riders who have small co-pays ranging from $1.50 to $2.50 each way.
This new service, named “Nassau Transit” is open to the public, will only pick up from central designated collection points, will not require pre-registration/qualification, and will be limited to seats available (10-14) for each bus. Weekly & monthly bus passes may be coming soon.
Contact Greg Frick, Transportation Manager 904-261-0701 x 114 for more information or visit www.nassautransit.com.
COA Transportation Buses will continue to pick up pre-registered clients at their homes, take them to their appointments and return them—door-to-door service with the same small Co-Pay as always.
Nassau Transit is open to everyone for $1 each way, and collects riders at specified places only.
