Plenty to Do Saturday in Fernandina Beach

Pirates on the Run, Locals Night Out, Into the Woods and so much more February 18th on Amelia Island.

Plenty to Do Saturday in Fernandina BeachThere is plenty to do in Fernandina Beach this Saturday including the Amelia Island Book Festival activites, the Flea and Tick sale for the Humane Society, Into the Woods at Amelia Community Theatre, and so much more.

At 8:00 AM is Pirates on the Run. Our community treasures this 5K/10K run/walk with costumed pirates, mardi gras beads, costume contes and a free pancake breakfast for participants.

The Fernandina Pirates Club, Inc. has been challenged by a rogue band of Pirates from Sanford, Florida, and they are out for blood, literally. While the Fernandina Pirates finished 2nd to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the district last year for the number of useable pints donated to the Georgia Florida Blood Alliance, the BE Orlando Pint Club has begun its mission to compete with them for blood donations in 2012.

Saturday, February 18, 2012, the Pirates will have four buses from the Blood Alliance in the Publix parking lot on Sadler Road. Wicked Wanda, the club’s Blood Drive Chairperson has also arranged to have another bus stationed in St. Mary’s, Georgia for the Chili Cook-Off in which the Pirates took respectable honors in 2011.

After you’ve raced a 5K, given blood, gone to St. Mary’s for some chili, it is time to come to Local’s Night Out. This is a SearchAmelia event and all are invited to spend the night at Amelia Hotel at the Beach for only $59.00 and enjoy a Staycation in your own backyard. Plenty of activities are planned and we’d love to have you join us.

For more information on these and other events, please visit the SearchAmelia Community Event Calendar. If you have an event that is open to the public and would like me to add it to our calendar for FREE, send me the details: Judie@SearchAmelia.com.

We hope you have a great weekend! I know I will!
