Rotary Club Learns Mental Health First AidFernandina Beach, FL Rotary Club learns about Mental Health First Aid Program at Starting Point.

The Rotary Club of Amelia Island Sunrise hosted Katrina Robinson Wheeler from Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare at its weekly meeting, where club members learned about an innovative new program entitled Mental Health First Aid.

The program is a public education program that introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental illness, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common support options.

Ms. Wheeler provided an overview of the program which offers certification to those who attend the 8 hour course.

Attendees will learn about the 5 step action plan, ALGEE, to support someone developing signs and symptoms of mental illness or someone in an emotional crisis.
