2012 Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival activities, events and entertainment for Saturday, May 5th, begin at 7:00 AM and continue until the 8:00 PM shotgun start of the Annual Putt Putt Tournament at Main Beach.
7:00am – 10:30am Breakfast Buffet, Eat In or Take Out, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 801 Atlantic Avenue.
8:00am is the 18th Annual Shrimp Festival 5k Run/Walk And 13th Annual Katie Caples Memorial 1-Mile Youth Run at Main Beach (Atlantic Ave. at North Fletcher Ave.) For Information call the YMCA at (904)261-1080.
Food Booths Stay Open Until 8:00pm
- -Fine Arts & Crafts Show featuring Over 300 Juried Fine Artists and Craftsmen. Located at Centre Street, North and South 2nd, North and South 3rd, North 4th Streets.
-Antiques & Collectibles Show located at South 4th, 5th, 6th, & 7th Streets
-Kids Fun Zone featuring Games, Face Painting, Sand Art, Rock-Climbing Wall, Food Court, free Publix Kids Craft Corner, Bungee Fun, Pony Rides, Caricatures, Live Entertainment and Lots More Family Fun. The Fun Zone is located at the parking lot between North 3rd Street and North 4th Street.
-Nassau County Public & Private Schools Art Display, located at North 4th Street in front of library building.
-Riverfront Stage Entertainment and sponsor activities at the foot of Centre Street – south parking lot and 2nd and Centre Streets.
-Live Marine Sea Circus & Shrimp Aquarium Display. Sponsored by the Univerity of Georgia Marine Extension Service, at the foot of Centre Street at the Amelia River.
-Blood Alliance Bloodmobile will be parked on North 6th Street
-U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center will also be at North 6th Street
-Dozens of food booths offer a variety of seafood and other delicacies throughout the festival area. Riverfront Food Court, and at every intersection along Centre Street.
9:30am Fernandina Beach High School Jazz Ensemble on the Riverfront Stage
10am-12pm The History of Shrimping, a member of the “Heritage Group” will be available at the Fernandina Marine Museum (north of the boat ramp) to tell stories of the past, answer questions about shrimping and tell how Fernandina Beach became the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry.
10:30am Pirate-in-Training Contest, Ages 5 and under at the Pirate Ship Stage. Sponsored by Wee Wallaby, a Cloth Diaper Company.
10:30am Little Pirate Contest following the Pirate in Training Contest, Ages 6 and over at the Pirate Ship Stage. Sponsored by Ann Teague Bonding Agency, Inc.
11:30am The Instant Groove
