Plan a perfect Valentine's Day with items found at the farmers market and Arts Market.

You can plan a perfect Valentine’s Day dinner and gifts with items found at the Fernandina Beach Market Place farmers market and Arts Market. Begin with a tasty, and romantic appetizer of Mayport shrimp cocktail purchased fresh from Chesser Seafood. Follow up with a crisp bed of hydroponic lettuce, kale, and salad greens from Bacon’s Select Produce and Cabbage Creek Farms. Top your salad with seasonal selections from Kings and Boatright Farms like onions, carrots, bell peppers, jalapeno, and tomatoes. For your main course, feast on a hormone free steak from JD Beef, or sweet scallops and a wild caught Alaskan salmon fillet from Upstream Seafood. Pair with warm bread or dinner rolls from Great Harvest or Ferra’s Bakery and your dinner is complete. But, save room for dessert.

You will want to indulge in Topsy’s milk, dark, or white chocolate toffee, a sweet pie for two from Me, Myself and Pies, Sweet Peach cupcakes, or try the chocolate covered pecans from Ganas Pecan Farm before you surprise your sweetheart with a thoughtful gift.

Presents are abundantly available from scented goat milk soaps at Hairy Farmpit Girls or Osbourne Ranch found in the adjacent Arts Market. Is your Valentine more of a book lover? Author Steve Gibbs will be in the Arts Market presenting his seventh book, “Cool Change.” In this novel a 70 year old man has lost his wife of 40 years and he embarks on a road trip with his dog, Puddles. While this book is different from his first five novels, the main character, Java, is the same… he’s just a little more seasoned.

Another great gift idea is from Reverse Glass by Gail Green. She hand paints glasses, mugs, vases, carafes, pitchers, shot glasses and more with Florida inspired art that is dishwasher and microwave safe. Stop by and ask Gail about her new and unique, fused glass serving platters.

Both markets are open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine. You are invited to bring a blanket, your friends, your neighbors, and your dog, and sit on the lawn while enjoying the musical stylings of the talented Jenn Burns.

For the most recent information, find both markets on Facebook.
