Millie Lhotka, volunteer, Gail Bushy owner of The Snow Ball Stand, and her grandson Jhase Bushy roll out the supplies for snow cones.

Attendees of the East Nassau Council on Aging, both the ADHC Program and The Senior Center enjoyed a sweet cold treat on a very hot summer day, courtesy of Gail Bushy, owner of the picturesque Snow Ball Stand located on 14th Street at Nectarine, near the Council on Aging and Baptist Hospital in Fernandina Beach.

The seniors chose from a yummy assortment of different flavors on the roll around cart, sampling them and enjoying this delicious treat, while sneaking in some much needed hydration on this scortching hot day.

The history of The Snow Ball shaved ice cone was discussed and reminised as well. “Lunch and Learn” with dessert first was a nice change to the normal order of things at COA. Gail reminded staff and volunteers too, that hydration, particularly on our hot summer days is very important for everyone.
